Lesson description
  • The learner speaks with their assistant, Nia Okoro, about their upcoming meeting with Jana Che, HR Coordinator and DEIB specialist at Recipe Box Express, who teaches them about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB).
  • The learner's goal is to form a diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) coalition at the innovation hub. The learner seeks advice from Jana Che who specializes in DEIB. Jana teaches the learner strategies companies can use to achieve DEIB in the workplace. She recommends collaborating with Roth Barad, who is in a similar stage of developing a DEIB strategy for his team.
  • The learner connects with Roth Barad to learn about his DEIB motivations. During the conversation, the learner uncovers parallels between their aspirations with the innovation hub and Roth's efforts at Recipe Box Express. Roth believes that it could be helpful for the learner to see this process from end to end, so he invites them to tag along in his DEIB strategy efforts.
  • The learner and Roth Barad meet with Jana Che to discuss where diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) can improve at Recipe Box Express. Jana explains the pain points the company is experiencing more generally, as well as growth opportunities for the Marketing team. The learner must ask questions to uncover what Jana considers to be the root cause of the DEIB challenges.
  • The learners conduct a strategy meeting with Roth and collaborate with him to design a plan for improving DEIB on his Marketing team. The learners apply what they learned to recommend DEIB practices that will help Roth address his pain points. Learners reflect on their experience collaborating with Roth and determine how they can apply what they've learned to their efforts with the innovation hub DEIB coalition.
