Module Details

This ‘Active Listening and Inquiry’ module is designed to help learners develop their active listening skills. This training focuses on cultivating a psychologically safe conversation, prioritizing the needs of others, leading with curiosity, normalizing other’s experiences, and communicating respect, dignity, kindness and positive intent. Learners will practice using natural and empathetic paraphrase, summarize themes and ask clarifying questions to confirm understanding, and use verbal affirmations to build trust.

Module Details

Learning objectives

Learners will be able to identify when an employee might be experiencing mental health challenges outside of the workplace
Learners will be able to accurately and consistently utilize the technique of natural paraphrase to foster a psychologically safe environment in their day to day activities
Learners will be able to accurately and consistently utilize probing questions to encourage open communication and uncover relevant information in their day to day activities
Learners will be able to purposefully and consistently exercise active listening skills during conversations to promote closer relationships and more accurately comprehend and remember important information
Learners will be able to display genuine empathy for other people's’ opinions, emotions, thoughts, and experiences, even when their actions are in conflict with the learner’s goals
