Playing the role of city commissioner, the learner mediates a strike between Recipe Box Express and the Employee Collective. Learners meet with Camila Laferte, the representative for the collective, to learn about the issues. They collaborate on solutions with Jana Che, HR Coordinator, to discontinue the strike.

Learners will be notified when their performance will be scored and can return to the menu before proceeding. Green, yellow, and red visual cues indicate the quality of their response.

Lesson description
  • Rory Raggs, infamous reporter for the Valley-Heights Observer, bursts into your office demanding a quote about the strike at Recipe Box. Luckily, your assistant, Nia Okoro, has already scheduled a meeting for you with the representative for the Recipe Box Express Employee Collective, Camila Laferte, who can shed light into the issues causing the strike.
  • Discuss the reasons for the strike with Camila Laferte and get to the heart of what biases and forms of systematic discrimination are on display at Recipe Box.
  • Act as a mediator between Camila, who is acting as the representative for the Employee Collective, and Jana, who is acting as HR Coordinator on behalf of Recipe Box Express. Propose strategies to address the biases and systematic discrimination on display at RBE and negotiate a resolution to the strike.
